Fun in the Cold: Kid's Winter Hat Pattern
This is the pattern for a kid’s hat. When my kids were young, I never had enough hats. So I began knitting them, and started making them more individual and more unique. They loved picking out the hat to be worn on any given day or on any special occasion. As they got older, I continued to make hats with the left overs from other projects. To this day my 30 year old daughter and 26 year old son still receive hats from me.
It is a great way to clean out my stash, and I let the colors and yarn I have dictate the design. But I still love making hats for young children. I always have a few on hand, and I always have a small gift to give when I go visiting, or if someone brings his/her child over for a visit. It is a small gesture which is greatly appreciated.
I made this hat using scraps from other projects. I adapted the pattern for a smaller child, or a toddler. The earflaps and the pompom can be included or omitted, whatever your preference. Other designs can be added; and the numbers can be substituted with letters, or names, pictures or sayings. The possibilities are endless. The basic pattern is simple and can be dressed up or down. Have fun and let me see the results.
