Fun in the Snow Mittens
Snowflakes, fir trees, and little animals - my favorite attributes for a winter scene - make the “Fun in the Snow Mittens”. Knit a traditional 2-color version or, if you feel playful, throw in a third color for more fun!
Materials
• US 0 (2mm) set of dpns or circular needles for Magic loop method
• Light fingering weight yarn. About 280 yards /65 g total (MC – 199y/43 g, CC – 101y/22 g) for longer version or 270 yards/60 g total (MC – 185y/40 g, CC – 95y/20 g) for a shorter version.
Notes
1. Size: with recommended yarn and needles the mittens will turn out to fit a 7.5 – 8” circumference hand. Use thicker yarn and larger size needles to make larger mittens.
2.Versions: three versions are available: 1) V1 - 68sts with afterthought thumb; 2) V2 - 70 sts with thumb gusset, 3) V3 – extra charts for a 3-color version with gusset.
3. If you prefer a shorter version, after knitting the ribbing, skip the cuff section (rounds 1-13) and proceed with round 14.
4. If preferred, you can reverse the colors of the cuff to have it in contrast to the body of the mitten.
5. The thumbs are the same for all versions. But you can choose between two options or mix and match, if you like.
Thank you so much to my wonderful testers: Mitt, Heli-keiju, and bgow ♥♥♥ I do appreciate you help a lot!
