Fungie
When you visit Dingle you will definitely hear about the town’s famous ‘inhabitant’: Fungie, also known as the Dingle Dolphin. Fungie is a bottle nose dolphin who, according to the locals, was first seen in Dingle’s harbour in 1983 and who has stayed in the Dingle Bay ever since. There are boat tours to watch Fungie and the townspeople even built a statue in his honor.
The socks are knitted cuff down with a heel flap and gusset. The leg featurs a large dolphin motif in stranded kniiting. To accommodate the tighter fit of stranded knitting there are stitches increased before that section, which get decreased again when the section is finished. Follwing the socks are knited in a texured pattern reminiscent of waves.
The socks come in two sizes, women’s M to fit leg circumference 19 cm (7.5”) and L to fit leg circumference 22 cm (8.5”). Leg length results in 23.5 (25.5) cm 9.25 (10)” when knit as given in pattern.
You can choose to work the textured pattern either from the charts or the written instructions, but please note, that that the colourwork motifs are charted only and there are no written instructions for the motifs provided.
