The Für Elise Glove pattern has been thoroughly revised and tested. Thank you to all the lovely ladies who tested this pattern!

A challenging knit, but one that yields superb results!

These gloves begin with deceptively simple ribbing that belies the ornate pattern that springs forth enveloping the forearms.

The cabled and lace medallions then smoothly diminish in number giving way to classic eyelette cables and a single motif. A single column of eyelette cables also adorns each thumb.

The pattern is fully charted in two lengths and two sizes.

Shaping is achieved by using two needle sizes and strategically placed decreases.

S/M: hand circumference of 15-17.5 cm (6-7 in.)
M/L: hand circumference of 17.5-20 cm (7-8 in.)

Short: 23 cm (9.25 in.)
Long: 32 cm (12.75 in.)

Gauge
S/M: 30 stitches x 40 rows over 10 cm (4 in)
in stockinette stitch with 2.25 mm needles

M/L: 28 stitches x 37 rows over 10 cm (4 in)
in stockinette stitch with the smaller (2.5 mm) needles

Yarn
Short Gloves: St. Denis, Boreale 100% Wool
206 m (225 yds) per 50 g ball, 1 ball required

Long Gloves: Drops Alpaca, 100% Peruvian Alpaca
180 m (196 yds) per 50 g, 2 balls required

If you wish to substitute another fingering weight yarn you will need the following amounts:
Short Gloves: 175, 185 m (192, 203 yds)
Long Gloves: 280, 290 m (306, 317 yds)

Short gloves both sizes: one (1) set of dpns*
S/M: 2.25 mm
M/L: 2.50 mm

Long gloves: two (2) sets of dpns*
S/M: 2.25 mm & 2.50 mm
M/L: 2.50 mm & 2.75 mm
If you prefer to work in the round using the Magic Loop Technique, please substitute the appropriate sized circular needles.
