You will need black and white 4ply/fingering yarn and a mohair-style yarn for the trim and hat. You will also need a sewing needle to stitch the coat together and a couple of snap fasteners.

The pattern is worked in once piece: you work up to the neckline including the sleeves. You then divide it in half and work each side separately using half of the chart (there is a feint line down the middle of the pattern to show each side).

The pattern is mainly charted with some written instructions.
