This cowl consists of pleated ribs, trailing along the entire fabric, with a plain reverse side. While the pleats are worked in wool, the garter stitch sections between them are knitted in silk mohair. This makes for a strong, sturdy top fabric which holds its shape, yet is very soft and smooth on the inside, with a light and slightly see-through fabric between the pleats. Due to the doubled fabric which forms the pleats, I would recommend yarn no thicker than sport weight.

The cowl can be closed in the round or with an i-cord loop edging and buttons, which allows for a range of styles to wear it - closed as protection against cold and windy weather or partly opened to hug your shoulders. A slim rolled edge completes the cowl.

This pattern is easily adjustable for larger or smaller sizes, but it is not a “quick knit” and in my opinion suitable for an intermediate knitter. Each step is thoroughly explained and I am happy to help with any questions. Happy knitting!
