Fynbos Slipover
Fynbos is an oversized slipover with all-over lace print, featuring Japanese shoulder shaping. It is worked from the top down, starting with the back piece flat from neck to underarms. Left and right fronts are picked up from the shoulders and worked flat first separately until the underarms. After casting on extra stitches for underarms, the back and front parts are joined, and the work continues flat until the bottom of V-neck opening. At that point the whole slipover is joined to work in the round all the way down to the hem. Neck opening is trimmed with a 1x1 rib neckband.
This tutorial gives you detailed step-by-step instructions for the whole process, including written instructions, charts, photo- and video-tutorials.

Yarn
Heavy DK to worsted weight (if using classic merino – 200-220 m / 220-250 yds per 100 g / 3.5 oz). You can also use any classic kid-mohair (200-225 m / 220-250 yds per 25 g / 0.9 oz) held double or triple or absolutely any yarn combo that will give you the right gauge and drape of the fabric.
My sample was knit with two yarns held together:
’Gazzal ‘Baby Cotton’ (60 % cotton, 40 % acrylic – 160 m / 180 yds per 50 g / 1.8 oz) and ’African Expressions ‘Hope’ (80 % mohair, 20 % polyamide – 212 m / 240 yds per 25 g / 0.9 oz.
If knitting with DK (or Worsted) yarn held single, the approximate yardage needed will be:
XS-S — 800m (875 yds);
M-L — 1000m (1090 yds);
XL-2XL — 1200m (1310 yds);
3XL-4XL — 1500m (1640 yds).
