Some kids like stuffed animals. Some kids like dolls. Yarn Miracle has something for everyone.

When knit to gauge, Girls will measure about 16.5” from head to toe. If you are looking to make a doll in one of the darker skin toes, you have it made: there are many beautiful natural fiber yarns available in browns and tans. You’ll have to look a little harder for a pallid skin match. I worked the example Girl in with discontinued Blue Sky Alpacas color-grown organic cotton. My top suggestion of an available yarn is Ecobutterfly Organic Farfalle. Farfalle is available in several color-grown shades that are great for skin tones - even a couple for the SPF80 set. A modest amount of yarn in matching weight will be required for her knit-on undies. Her sundress/nightgown requires another 150 yards of sportweight and additional yarn for her hair (see the pattern notes for greater detail).

You’ll need a set of double pointed needles to suit your yarn (mine were US4), and the ability to graft (kitchener stitch), increase and decrease. She does have a heel turn on her (surprise!) heels but it is not a big deal. You know where to find me if you run into trouble - pattern support is always cheerful!

I’ll tell you right now: I hate designing doll clothes. Unless Ellie has some sort of doll dressing phase, it’s not likely that I’ll release patterns for additional wardrobe components for this Girl. But if YOU make her some clothes for her and decide to share them, tell me! I’ll add the links to these notes. Overalls would be awesome and then she can also be a he (not that a he can’t wear a dress but you know what I’m saying).

This is a well-written and illustrated pattern with a complete wig tutorial. The thing is 12 pages long.

All of the “is for” patterns are compatible. If you want to put the Rabbit’s arms on the Cat (or vice versa) - go for it.
