The Backstory:

When I was in middle school as with many kids my age, Avril Lavigne took over my world. It seemed every girl I knew under-dyed their hair to match Avril in the “I’m With You” video, and boys and girls alike wore loose ties around their necks like she did in the music video for “Complicated”.

On most of my walks these days to Astoria Park, I pass by one of the coolest sk8 parks I’ve ever seen. It’s under a bridge! And while I could never quite get the hang of sk8boarding myself, I designed this knit as if it were the underside of a board. It would look cool, right?!

The pattern was originally planned to just be a simple scarf. After I finished it, I thought it would look awesome as a wrap or even, wild thought, a baby blanket. With slight adaptations to the pattern, I was able to grade it out to make all three easily. That’s right folks, with this 1 pattern you can knit 2 accessories and a blanket! G8er Sk8er everything!

Guess I should design the sweater and hat versions next……or mitts?
