Welcome to week three of the 2014 Geek-A-Long, a mystery blanket knit-along! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the Geek-A-Long FAQ page. Then, meet me back here when you’re ready. For the old pros, let’s talk about Superman.
Comic books probably had a greater influence on my development than any other source. There are times of my life where “obsession” would probably be putting the fan-girling mildly. I particularly loved Golden and Silver Age Superboy comics where construction workers exclaimed “Golly!” and he was kicked out of Smallville every few issues. When Jac and I first began discussing the GAL, I considered making this a Superhero exclusive project. I could fill 48 squares with super-logos without even breaking a sweat. But I narrowed it down to 5, and Superman is the first of those. I think what I really love about him is the purity of his origins. He didn’t know that Lori was a mermaid because he was too much of a gentleman to look under the blanket. That’s a man I can get on board with.
Like Sherlock, this is another one that isn’t traditionally reversible, but let’s just say the blue side is his bizarro logo.
