Galactic Rainbow
Galactic Rainbow is a shawl designed to celebrate the vast rainbow of colours developed by Leon Alexander Yarns. It is a bold, asymmetrical triangular shawl featuring sections of relaxing garter stitch, colour fading and cosy brioche.
This shawl is a great project for beginner/intermediate brioche knitters who want to take the plunge, as it features 2 colour brioche stitches and basic increases and decreases for shaping.
Construction:
This shawl is knit flat on the bias starting at the tip, and working to the brioche edge.
Yarn:
Approx 660yds of fingering weight yarn. The sample uses Leon Alexander Yarns (430yds/393m per 100g skein) in the following amounts:
- Colour A: City of Lights - 322 yds/294m (75g)
- Colour B: Winter Night - 258 yds/235m (61g)
- Colour C: Je Ne Said Quoi - 73 yds/66m (6g)
Needle sizes:
4mm / US 6 (or any to obtain gauge)
Gauge:
19 sts / 32 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch
Techniques Used:
- Knitting and purling
- Increasing and decreasing
- 2 Colour Brioche
- I-cord edging and bind off
