Galeocerdo
Galeocerdo Cowl uses stretchy sideways garter stitch to create a unique, well-shaped, close-fitting neckwarmer cowl.
Pair it with Isurus for shark-themed summer knitting! These patterns both use similar MC/CC contrast, and similar techniques.
Knit it as shown (and written) in two colors, or reduce your finishing time with a single color (self-striping or gradients would look neat).
Materials:
- About 60g/262 yds MC (Cascade Heritage Sock, unknown gray) and 20g/90yds CC (Hedgehog Fibres Sock, Zenith colorway)
- 1 24”+ circular needle in US3-4/3.25-3.5mm, or size needed for gauge
- 1 spare needle in the same size, or one size smaller
- Crochet hook in B/2.25mm, or size to suit yarn
- Tapestry needle
- Smooth spare yarn for provisional cast-on
- Optional: stitch markers
Gauge:
Gauge is 22 sts and 48 rows over 4”/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat & lightly blocked. This pattern will be more forgiving of a gauge that’s looser, but won’t work well with a gauge that’s smaller. Please be sure to check your gauge.
Measurements:
As shown, this cowl measures 11”/28cm tall, 9”/23cm across the top, 8.5”/22cm across the narrowest point (it’s stretchy!), and 14”/36cm across the flared lower edge.
