Gallivant
I wanted a light cardigan that would be flattering without having to do endless rows of plain stockinette stitch.
After some frantic charting and swatching, I ended up with Gallivant, a fingering weight cardigan with an organic cabled vine budding at the top and springing from a leafed base. I set off the cabled pattern with yarn overs and bordered in moss stitch.
The pattern for the vines is completely charted. The cardigan is knit from the top down and is seamless. WS rows are patterned, but you are simply knitting the knits and purling the purls.
Pattern is shown in Knit Picks Comfy Fingering, but will work for any fingering weight yarn as long as you get gauge.
As of 1/31/12 there is an updated PDF that included rewording and reformatting of the pattern.
