Gallivanter is a dynamic zigzagging triangle for fingering to worsted weight yarn.

Ideal for pairing a busy yarn with a quiet yarn, or two contrasting solids. It also works well with long colour run gradients, handspun, variegateds and striping yarns. Or try working from both ends of a gradient ball by winding off half the skein and working from the middle. (The sample uses a rainbow gradient striped with a solid.)

It can be worked in half garter (knit every other WS row), full garter (knit all WS rows), or mostly stockinette (purl WS rows until final 2 repeats of chart, then work garter rows as per pattern).

Designed with travel knitting in mind, it uses a short formula which is easy to memorise so you can knit on the bus, the train, or while chatting at knit night.

Knitting By The Seat Of Your Pants 2 is a collection of 5 mostly garter projects in a variety of shapes, focussing on simple yet interesting 4 row construction, which is easily memorised so you don’t need to carry the pattern around with you all the time.

Each of these patterns can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from the chart with notes.

Gauge is not critical with this project. This page lists 4.5mm needles, which is what the sample used, but please adjust your needle size to suit your own yarn. This design is suited to a range of weights from fingering to worsted, and adaptable to any yardage.
