Gallus Scarf
Gallus Scarf is a long scarf with optional fringe at either end. It is constructed using german short rows, with an i-cord cast on, edging and cast off. Length can be altered by adding or removing repeats of section two. The sample is knitted in fingering weight yarn held double, but a single strand of DK weight yarn, or a strand of fingering or sport weight held with a strand of lace weight mohair or suri alpaca, could be substituted.
The word gallus is a Scots word meaning brazen, bold, unapologetic, unafraid, unashamed. The perfect fit for this statement accessory! Wrapped in your Gallus Scarf, may you feel powerful, audacious, and daring. May it give you the courage to be your fabulous unique self, to dance to the beat of your own drum, and to seek out those that love and support your fullest expression of self. Knit this blessing into every stitch for a cold season staple that empowers and emboldens you, for, truly, you deserve nothing less.
