The Gambit Jumper is an oversized piece consisting of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitches, made using the intarsia technique. It is knitted flat and then later assembled.

Level: Confident Beginner to Intermediate

Required Techniques: alternating cable cast on, twisted rib stitch, stockinette, reverse stockinette, intarsia cast on, intarsia, decreasing, picking up stitches, binding off and seaming.

Suggested Needles:

4.5mm US 7 needles (40cm or 80cm in length)
5.5mm US 9 needles (80cm or 100cm in length)
Tapestry/darning needle to assemble.
Stitch Markers

Gauge (after blocking):
In stockinette stitch (using 5.5mm US 9 needles): 18 sts / 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches.
In twisted rib stitch (using 4.5mm US 7 needles): 20 sts / 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches.

Materials:

Work the jumper using one strand of any Aran weight yarn - (10ply 8wpi).

NOTE! The jumper primarily uses two yarn colours (Yarn A and Yarn B) but feel free to use more than two colours or even one colour throughout.

Approx amounts of Yarn A: 300 (350) 350 (400) 400 (450) 500 (550) 600g of Stylecraft Special Aran, 100g/196m.
• Shown in colour ‘Meadow’.

Approx amounts of Yarn B: 250 (300) 350 (350) 400 (400) 450 (500) 550g of Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran, 100g/184m.
• Shown in colour ‘Vanilla Cream’.

If you choose to use one colour
throughout you will need: 550 (650) 700 (750) 800 (850) 950 (1050) 1150g of 100g/196m.
