Gambit mittens are wonderfully warm mittens in chess pattern, which are rather thick due to the multiple colours. They are worked bottom up. The stitches for the thumbs are placed on hold and finished at the end. Wash the mittens before use, as the stitches unfold and you get extra density and softness. You can felt the mittens slightly, too. See explanation at the end of this instruction.
