ABOUT THE PATTERN
The Gansey Boot Cuffs use simple knits, purls and 2-stitch cables to evoke iconic gansey sweaters. These cuffs combine rich texture with casual comfort. The Gansey Boot Cuffs include three of my favorite textured stitch patterns from traditional fisherman’s sweaters along the coasts of Ireland. In a traditional fisherman’s sweater, each stitch pattern is thought to represent a part of life. For these boot cuffs, I chose cables to represent fishermen’s ropes, a ladder to represent ships’ ladders and a chevron as a symbol of protection.

Boot cuffs are a quick and easy knit. Plus, boot cuffs are so versatile! Wear them above your boots on your calf, fold them over the boot tops to drape down, or wear them lower with ankle boots.
