Gansey Flatfish
Halibut and flounder galore! This small hand-knit flatfish has five options for body patterns based on traditional gansey motifs, as well as a blank template so you can create your own motif for these silly fish!
Finished Size The finished length of the fish is approximately 8” (20 cm) from nose to tail
Yarn Approximately 60 yds (55 m) of worsted-weight yarn. Samples shown in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes, 110 yds (100 m) per 50g ball, & Patons Classic Wool Worsted, 194 yds (177 m) per 100g ball.
Pattern format The fish body instructions are provided in both charted and written formats, the fin instructions are written.
Mini Version
A second version of the pattern has been added to the file download for making a mini fish in fingering-weight yarn! The mini fish measures 5 1/2” long (14 cm) and uses approximately 50 yards (46 meters) of fingering-weight yarn (sample shown in Knitpicks Gloss Fingering). Recommended needle size for the mini fish is US 1 (2.25 mm).
