Gansey Mitts
Pattern description from Folk Style: “To Veronik Avery, ‘folk’ means ‘steeped in tradition.’ Veronik used the time-honored patterns of Scottish ganseys in an updated, but no less traditional, hat-and-mitten set. Drawn to the ‘comfort food’ knit-and-purl gansey patterns, she made a textural design that is easy to knit. For the hat, she limited herself to one of the patterns that just happens to resemble a thermal knit. To add a personalized heirloom quality to the mitts, Veronik designs a spot for knit-in initials.”
Notions: Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.
Note: If making a hat and mitten set, 3 balls is sufficient to make the smaller-size mittens along with either of the 2 smallest hat sizes, but not enough to make both projects in the largest size.
