Garden Pillow (Tunisian)
Materials:
TLC Essentials (236 yrs/6 oz per skein)
Winter White #2316- 3 skeins
Worsted Weight, approx. 0.5 skein each for weaving:
Light Blue, Medium Blue, Royal Blue, Navy Blue & Purple.
J Crochet Hook & Tunisian 14” J Hook
Size 16 Tapestry Needle (Yarn Needle)
24” Square Pillow Form.
Gauge not terribly important, but should have between 80-90 stitches & 120-136 rows in 24”.
Two white squares are formed in Tunisian simple stitch to fit pillow form. The simple stitch gives a “waffle-like” appearance with distinct bars for the weaving.
With the coloured yarn, Swedish weaving (Huck weaving) is done on the simple stitch in a sort of a star pattern. Also the coloured yarn is used for a simple crossed stitch border in 4 rows. Then 8 tassels are formed & attached to the corners.
This book contains all information on the Tunisian simple stitch & has a diagram for the Weaving pattern, along with several pictures & “how-to’s”.
Very easy to construct, and all the elements are quite simple. Given the simple square shape, the pattern can be easily sized to fit any size pillow form.
