It’s late summer and the perfect time to be harvesting these big, juicy tomatoes in the garden! Garden Tomato is a simple toy project using just 45 yards (30 red and 15 green) of Nature Spun worsted yarn, or any worsted yarn you have on hand! Knitted in the round and including just 3 rounds of color work, Garden Tomato is also a great first stranded color work project. The stem is knit using a simple i-cord technique.

Like all of my toy patterns, gauge is not important as long as your project doesn’t look too “holey.” If you want a smaller tomato, simply use a thinner yarn like DK, sport, or even fingering yarn and size needles down accordingly. Likewise, you can make a bulkier tomato by sizing up to bulky yarn and larger needles! Make these tomatoes your own. They are a quick and relaxing yarn and I bet you’ll have a whole bowl full on your counter in no time!
