Peek through the trellis and view the garden beyond in this highly textured triangular shawl. Knit from the top down in two colors of fingering weight yarn in a slip stitch pattern that appears to be complex but is, in fact, far easier than it looks. Only one color is used on each row. Center spine is a four stitch left cross cable that flows into a soft cable ruffle at the bottom. Pattern has numerous tips and tutorial/video referrals for techniques used. My goal was to design an intricate and complex looking shawl that was easy and fun to knit. Wrong side rows are purled with the exception of the garter edge stitches and the side stitches on the center cable. All fourteen of my test knitters said they enjoyed knitting the shawl.

Pattern includes both charted and full written instructions.

Sizes: One size with diagram and instructions for adapting to any size, from kerchief to large. Model shawl in fingering is 60 inches wide by 26 inches deep.

Materials: Model was knit in two colours of fingering weight yarn, 400 yards of each. Test knitters worked shawl in fingering or laceweight yarns. A solid or semi-solid is suggested for the main colour (green on the model). The contrasting colour can be solid, variegated, or self striping. A chart is included with written instructions for a small swatch to test your colours and practice the twisted stitch pattern, if desired.

Level: Intermediate. Nothing is complex but the pattern does contain right and left twists, slipped stitches and a two over two left leaning cable. The cable twists are synchronized with shawl triangle pattern making for an easy reminder when to cross.

A big thank you to my test knitters: sandralice, clairealthea, beaumerstitcher, Elin76, Robebe, sanita60, Scillala, Anekke, tobycat21, Ilythya, KnittingPiggy, kmcfet, prizebird and Nurhan
