Garnet
Garnet is the birthstone of the month January. This stone can be found all over the world. It is typically thought of as a deep red, but can actually come in a variety of colors like green, golden yellow, and blue.
Construction: Top down
Shape: Scooped bottom
The Garnet shawl is rated intermediate more for the combination of techniques than for the actual lace pattern. The specific lace stitches are easy, some basic decreases (k2tog, ssk) and yarn overs worked only on right side rows. There will also be short row shaping (on reverse stockinette), basic cables, and slipped stitches.
As with all of my designs, the pattern will include fully written (line by line) and charted instructions. When you open the pattern you will see the written instructions first followed by the charts. Even if you’re exclusively a chart reader (like me) I always recommend that you read through the written instructions before beginning anyway.
If you have ordered a printed pattern it will be mailed after your yarn. No sneak peeks of the design!
The pattern PDF will be posted between 9am and noon (EST) on January 1, 2014. You will receive an email and/or Ravelry message from “downloads@ravelry” containing a link to download the pattern file. You will also be able to store the PDF in your Ravelry library. Any future updates on the pattern will be sent to you automatically.
