Garri Cowl
The pattern for the Garri cowl was created one icy cold day in January when it was snowing and blowing and spring seemed so far away. (In Icelandic the word „Garri“ refers to a cold, biting wind). I wanted to make something soft, warm and versatile, smaller and less bulky than a scarf or shawl. The cowl is thick enough to keep you warm, compact enough to fit under most coats and jackets, and simple enough that anyone can make it. When folded double, it also works well as an ear band. A true “one skein wonder”.
Sizes: One size.
Gauge: 19 sts in pattern = 10 cm (4 in).
Needles: Circular needles no. 5 ½ US size 9, 40 cm long. If you knit loosely, use needles half a size smaller, but go up half a size if you knit tightly. A coarser needle or an extra needle to cast on and bind off, if desired.
Yarn: CaMaRose´s Snefnug (50 g = 110 m 120 yd) which is made of alpaca, cotton and merino wool, or similar. The cowl in the photo is worked in color 7315 Grå Beige. You will need one skein.
Difficulty level: 1 out of 5. The pattern is suitable for most knitters.
