I was playing around with stitches and trying to think of something for men besides a beanie that could be knit using one skein of yarn and a necktie came to mind. After some trial and error, I came up with this simple little pattern that produces the size and shape of tie I like…so I thought I’d share!

The tie is knit using a modified moss stitch, which I call garter moss (if there is another name, I haven’t been able to find it), where a knit row is inserted between the moss stitch rows. It also has a 3 stitch boarder of garter stitch throughout. It is both yardage and time friendly and can be knit with anything from acrylic to cashmere. I’d recommend a silk blend to give it some shine.

Also, if you happened to download the pattern prior to June 18, 2010 there was a numbering error with the rows and has since been corrected.
