This essential pullover was designed to let the wonderful coziness of garter stitch shine. Thoughtful details set it apart, elevating the look of the finished garment. A folded-over neckline, faux-seams down the sides and sleeves, lots of tips for neat finishing… all come together to give a particularly pleasing impression and to achieve a wonderfully cozy and practical garment.

CONSTRUCTION:
This garment is worked seamlessly from the bottom up. It
is worked in the round to the underarms, then the front and the back are worked flat separately. The shoulders are joined using a three-needle bind off, then stitches are picked up around the neckline to work a fold-over edging (requiring some sewing) and around the armholes to work the sleeves, which are worked in the round.

Casting on, knitting, purling, decreasing, knitting in the round, working a three-needle bind off, picking up stitches, binding off, sewing.
SIZES:
3mo (6mo, 12mo, 18mo // 2yo, 4yo, 6yo, 8yo, 10yo)
To fit chest: 16 (17, 18, 19 // 21, 23, 25, 26.5, 28) inches or 40.5 (43, 45.5, 48.5 // 53.5, 58.5, 63.5, 67.5, 71) cm
Garment chest circumference: 19.75 (20.75, 21.5, 23 // 25, 26.5, 28.75, 30.25, 31.75) inches or 49.5 (52, 54, 57.5, // 62.5, 66.5, 72, 75.5, 79.5) cm
In general, it’s best to select a size based on the child’s actual waist measurement. You can also choose a size according to how much ease you’d like the garment to have.
YARN REQUIREMENTS:
Approximately 350 (400, 450, 500 // 650, 725, 800, 925, 1050) yds or 320 (366, 411, 457 // 594, 663, 731, 846, 960) m of heavy sport or light dk weight yarn

GAUGE:
22 sts x 46 rounds (i.e. 23 ridges) = 4 inches or 10 cm in garter stitch in the round using larger needles, after blocking. Please adjust your needle size if needed to achieve gauge.
NEEDLES:

US 4 or 3.5 mm diameter circular needle (or size needed to match garter stitch gauge) in length 16” or 40 cm for sizes 3mo to 18mo and in length 24” or 60 cm for sizes 2yo to 10yo.

matching double-pointed needles for sleeves (or a long circu- lar needle if using the magic loop technique).

US 2 1/2 or 3 mm diameter circular needle (or 2 sizes smaller than above) 16” or 40 cm in length (or a long circular needle if using the magic loop technique) for neckline edging.
