Garter Rib Boot Toppers, with optional beaded picot edge
Want a boot topper but don’t want to knit in the round? Want stripes but not sure how to do them?
This is a pick ‘n’ mix recipe covering various options for a sideways knit boot topper. The boot topper can be knitted plain or you can add a picot edge as you knit along. There’s also the option to add beads to the picots or even bells if you are brave! I’ve also included notes for creating both wavey and an evenly striped ribbed boot toppers too.
This pattern gives instructions for casting-on using double knit (8ply), worsted or aran weight (10ply) and chunky (12ply), with 4mm, 5mm and 6mm needles accordingly. I’ve not included a gauge as these toppers are knitted flat to your desired length. The pattern includes both flat and folded down cuffs too. Plus a guide to the amount of yarn required by each version.
Hopefully this will give you plenty of options to play with.
