Garter Ruffle
A lightweight, warm woolen to keep the chill off the neck in a fashionable way. A minimalistic design that utilizes decreases for design interest and function. A simple, yet slightly delicate garter ruffle lines the bottom edge and adds an interesting touch. Elegance through simplicity. This is a wonderful project for hand-painted or multi-colored yarns. Because of the width of the project and the stitch count, pooling should not be an issue with this project.
This is an advanced beginner / intermediate level project.
CONSTRUCTION:
Wrap / scarf is knit from the bottom up. The body of the wrap/scarf is completed before the left and right side edges and the garter ruffle edge are picked up and worked. The garter ruffle edge is worked on either two circular needles (a long circular needle and another that can be as short as 16-in / 40-cm) or with a single circular needle and a single DPN (recommend a minimal length of 8-in / 20-cm for the DPN to avoid the stitches from falling off).
SIZE: ONE SIZE,
36-in wide x 24-in height (90-cm wide x 60-cm height).
CONSTRUCTION & TECHNIQUES USED: casting on with a cable (knitted) cast-on, working directional decreases, picking up stitches along cast-on and side edges, working with vertical and horizontal stitches at the same time, and casting off.
