This garter stitch hat is worked sideways,
beginning with a crocheted provisional cast on.
German short rows are used to create wedges that
shape the crown. 3 markers are placed to indicate
turns for the short rows. To finish off, the Garter
Stitch Kitchener Stitch is used to join the live
stitches to the cast on stitches. The stretchy nature
of garter stitch fabric allows the hat to fit a variety of
sizes. To adjust the height, cast on more or fewer
stitches. To adjust the circumference, do the
wedge repeat more or fewer times. Each wedge
measures approximately 1.5” at the widest end.
