PATTERN NOTES :
This style of Skull Cap can be made in any size by adjusting the number of pegs you cast on for your circle top piece at the beginning.
In this example I have used a 59 peg half an inch gauge loom for the whole hat and 17 pegs for the six sections of the top piece. This gives a snug fitting Skull Cap in a large man’s size.
Ladies and Teenagers I recommend using 14 to 16 pegs, Children aged between 7 and 12 years I have used 10 to 15 pegs, ages 1 to 11 years, 10 to 12 pegs and for babies under a year old 9 to 10 pegs.
Materials :
1/2 inch gauge 59 peg adult hat loom
loom hook
tapestry needle
Yarn :
1 x 50g ball Rowan DK Tweed in Taupe Fleck
10g Noro Cash Iroha in Black
10g Adriafil Regina in Charcoal
ALTERNATIVES :
any DK or Worsted Weight natural fibre yarn preferably wool or a woollen mix works best for this pattern, Acrylic yarns can be used but dont hug the shape of the head so well as they tend to have more stretch in them and not as much yarn ‘memory’ as wool does.
