Gas, Dust and Billions of Stars
I knitted my scarf out of mystery yarn, given to me by my Gran and cast on during a showing of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”. The yarn reminded me of the colour of space, hence the name. I call this “The Galaxy Scarf” for short.
I chose a double knitting yarn and 5.5mm needles so I could get a good drape to my fabric. I wanted it to be holey and quite irregular. The cast on specifies 39 stitches - you could cast on more if you want a wider scarf. As long as the cast on is a multiple of five, minus one stitch, the bind off will work.
I played around with the dropped stitch rows - the close-up photo shown is one of these sections with a row of double wrapped stitches, closely followed by a row of triple wrapped stitches.
The scarf is one of my current favourites (lack of photos of it ‘on’ are due to poor, British winter lighting when one lives on a farm on the moor, rather than because I don’t wear it) and I think it will be for a while.
Happy knitting!
