Summer is waning and there is a chill in the air. It is the perfect time to be snuggled up on the couch in front of the fire with hot apple cider and my knitting. This shawl is perfect for those days of relaxing and unwinding.

Originally released as our Fall 2013 MKAL, this rectangular shawl is done in 2 colors of fingering weight yarn and worked from the side to side with the option of adding accent beads and a single button closure. A boldly, striped knit with some lacy details, it is relaxing to knit, but with enough variety to keep you thoroughly entertained.

Skills Needed -Basic knit increases and decreases (yo, k2tog, p2tog, ssk, sl 1-k2tog-psso). Beading is optional, but may be a good introduction.

Yarn - Stunning String Studio, Stunning Superwash (475 yds/434 m, 100g skein, 100% Superwash Merino): MC: Sprout, 1 skein; CC: Charcoal, 1 skein.
Or any Fingering Weight Yarn: MC: 475 yards (434 m); CC: 475 yards (434 m).

Needles - US 7 (4.5 mm) 24” (61 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge.

2 Stitch Markers
Optional - 150 Seed Beads 6/0 and a crochet hook US 10-14 (1.25 -0.75mm) or size that will fit your bead, or Super Floss to apply (for best visibility, beads should match CC yarn and contrast with MC. All beads will be placed on MC yarn.)
Optional - 1 Button about 1” (2.54 cm) shank bottom preferred.

Gauge - 16 stitches & 26 rows per 4” (10cm) in blocked stockinette stitch. Although gauge is not critical, it will affect overall size and yarn requirements.

Size - Blocked measurements: 20 in (51 cm) tall x 60 in (152 cm) long.
