Gateway to Rustic
Espace Tricot is a yarn store in Montreal, Canada. Discover our yarns here! www.espacetricot.com
Gateway to Rustic is a great introduction to colour work, thanks to the simple, repetitive pattern - no counting or charts required.
It’s also a good skill-builder for those who haven’t tried a Provisional Cast On or 3-Needle Bind Off before.
As the name implies, this pattern serves as a gentle introduction to more rustic yarns, especially for those who love working with softer hand-dyed superwash yarns. This is a great way to test-drive woolier, less processed yarns and discover their unique and intriguing properties. Before you know it, you’ll be chatting breed-specific qualities while you dash off stranded mittens and yokes!
Materials:
Main Color (MC):
Tukuwool Fingering – (100% Finnish Wool; 195 m / 213 y) 1 skein
(Sample shown in Nila H32)
Contrast Color (CC):
Hedgehog Fibres Skinny Singles – (100% merino; 366 m / 400 y)
Please note we used only about 85 m of the Skinny Singles, however, if you plan to use yarn from stash, be safe and make sure you have at least 90 m on hand.

Shibui Silk Cloud – (60% kid mohair, 40% silk; 300 m / 330 y) 1 skein (the Silk Cloud is knit held double – you will use all of this skein and finish the lining with a few rows of Tukuwool before binding off)
