The first thing I ever saved on Pinterest was the Gattelin Rock stitch - I love its simplicity and texture.

The stitch pattern only uses knit and purl stitches; I’ve added an optional I-cord border which creates a lovely plush finished edge.

You’ll need one skein of worsted/aran weight yarn. This stitch looks great with variegated yarn (as shown), or with solid colours.
