I knew for winter that I wanted to design a simple garter stitch dress with some cool gauntlet sleeve details so they could cover part of my hands in the cold weather.

It’s a subtle detail in the dress which I really love and makes it a little bit different.

I discovered the Lang Malou Luxe yarn during a recent trip to Munich and knew it would be perfect for the design I had in mind because it is bouncy (so won’t stretch lengthwise when the dress is worn in the garter stitch) and its super soft and fluffy with a hint of silver lurex which makes the dress sparkle.

Due to the type of yarn, I knew it would be best to make the dress seamless so it is knitted in the round with a little bit of grafting at the underarms once the dress is fully knitted.

The sleeves and body are joined into a yoke which is also knitted in the round.

Please note that the sleeves are knitted in the round using the magic loop method and so is the ending of the Yoke once the stitches are decreased. There are some good videos demonstrating this technique on www.youtube.com

As the dress is knitted on larger needles and yarn, it is quite quick to knit up.

I really hope you enjoy knitting and wearing the dress as much as I have.
