Notes
Inspired by the gabled roofs common to Scandinavian architecture, the Gavl socks pair delicate cables with sharp asymmetry to create a fun, geometric design.
Gavl explores the clean linear qualities of half twisted rib and combines them with simple stocking stitch for an engaging project with a minimalistic look, the perfect canvas to show off your yarn. The heel is worked with short rows, to create a smooth feel and an easy-to-memorise construction, perfect for knitting on the go.
Gavl socks are worked from the cuff down, beginning with a band of half twisted rib broken by a 4 st cable on the inside of the leg. As the sock progresses the cable splits and moves around the leg, meeting again on the outside of the ankle, completing the ribbed section. The heel is a mitred heel turn, formed by wrap and turn short rows. The foot and toe are completed in stocking stitch.
