Part of the Alaskan Iditarod Collection

In celebration of the Alaskan Iditarod, this adventuresome fair isle inspired hat evokes the spirit of the Last Great Race. Gee Haw is the musher’s way of saying “lets’ go!” as the dogs pull fearlessly through the wintry landscape. The design features a musher on a sled, pulled by three dogs running through a wintry landscape of snow and trees.

Knit from the bottom up, this stranded beanie can be knit fitted, or slouchy! It is designed to be a little loose as most stranded hats end up pinching ones head; making for an uncomfortable fit. A festive pom pom would make a great addition!

I used Cascade 220 Superwash Sport and Alaskan Yarn Co. Sport because it is uber soft, and is incredibly versatile. If your hat ends up being a little small, simply wet block it for a larger size! Too big, toss it in the dryer (on low heat) and voila! its all tightened up!

Make one for yourself, or your favorite musher!
