This scarf is inspired by leaf buds. “Gemma F.” is short for the latin term gemma follipara, which means just that, leaf buds. It is a great knit for spring and should keep your neck warm all through summer!

The pattern for the lace edging is available in a charted form as well as in written directions. And I am particularly fond of the bind-off, which is a combination of Jeny´s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off and the Picot Bind-Off. As always there´s an illustrated detailed appendix explaining all techniques used including the bind-off.

Materials:
Yarn:
Heathered lace weight yarn;
Shown in Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud, 100% baby alpaca; 440 yds/402 m/50 g;
colour A (995 - Dill Heather): 537 yds/491 m/61 g
and colour B (23505 - Midnight Heather): 185 yds/169 m/21 g

A good substitute is Isager Alpaca 1, for example.

Needle:
US#4/3.5 mm 24 - 60 inch/60 - 150 cm circular

Notions:

• A row counter or safety pin (to keep track of short rows of Main Part)
• 23 stitch markers (to mark centre st of Main Part and pattern repeats of Lace Edging)
• A long blocking wire and a lot of pins (for blocking)

Finished Size:

• After blocking 108“/274 cm long and 14.5“/37 cm wide
• There is the option to vary the size by casting on a different number of stitches given.

Dieser Schal ist Blattknospen nachempfunden. Daher war es einfach, einen passenden Namen zu finden: “Gemma F.” wie gemma follipara oder Blattknospen. Der Schal ist ein perfektes Projekt für den Frühling und er läßt sich den ganzen Sommer über tragen.

Der Lace-Rand ist in einer Strickschrift zusammengefasst. Wer lieber nach Textangaben arbeitet, findet auch eine ausgeschriebene Variante. Besonders zufrieden bin ich mit dem Abketten: Und zwar wird Jeny´s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off mit dem Mäusezähnchenrand kombiniert. Wie immer erläutert ein bebilderter Anhang alle verwendeten Techniken einschließlich des Abkettens.
