This pattern can be found for free on my blog! But if you would like a printer-friendly, ad-free copy, you can purchase here or on Etsy.
The Gemma Toque was designed specifically for my daughter’s beautiful curly hair, but can be very easily closed at the top too!
This hat was made in one size, but I discovered that it fit my 3 year old, 9 year old, and myself! It was more of a slouchy beanie on my youngest child, while more fitted on myself and my older daughter.
I used Madame Pomfrey in the DK, Superwash Merino Wool from Kenyarn. A comparable yarn found in stores would be a worsted 3 OR Premier Yarn Deborah Norville Everyday collection. Though that is marked as a worsted 4, I have found it to be thinner than most 4s.
The pattern is worked from the brim up, beginning with a very warm, beautifully textured, double brim. My daughter has loved how warm this keeps her ears and head during our frigid winters in Buffalo!
