Gemstone Bay Shawl
A lace knit inspired crochet shawl. Beautiful, sumptuous drape with delicate lace edging, carried by nostalgic undertones of hikes to Cathedral Cove via Gemstone Bay. From home to home.
Lace edge is made whilst working the rows. Overall construction is by rows worked flat starting from one side/wingtip and increasing until overall size and shape is achieved. The rows will look to be working on the diagonal which is intentional. There are three main sections for the lace detailing, but you will predominantly be working a series of repeats.
Edges naturally curl so finished shawl will need a wet soak and full dry block; the edges then set flat.
Designed in fingering weight and 3.75mm hook size for a light shawl but can be easily adjusted in heaver weights bearing in mind this will change the amount of yarn required and the overall finish.
Yarn support kindly provided by Zakami @feedthebobbin 90% Fine Merino and 10% Linen blend in Nosferatu colourway. Highly recommend this for a knit-like fabric drape, it is soft and light yet has a strong robust finish without any spring back in the stitches. Natural alternative to nylon blend sock.
