This hat with optional deep folded brim is designed specifically for women and can be made with a jaunty pompom.

This hat has a ribbed hem and diamonds filled with seed stitch, it’s really very beautiful. It looks equally good knitted in tweed, multi colored hand dyed or solid color. The cable gemstones can be worked from written or charted instructions. It also comes with an optional folded brim and a jaunty pompom to give the hat a whole new character. The extra height in the ribbed portion produces a youthful slouchy effect. Make a Gemstone with no pompom if you prefer!

NOTES: The hat is designed in two versions. The directions in brackets are given for a hat with folded brim. If there is only one number it is for both versions. The directions for the body are charted and written out, the directions for cap decreases are written only. The pattern is suitable for higher intermediate knitters, with knowledge of lace and cabling, and circular knitting.

The model (me, with 23” head circumference) is wearing both hats knitted with US 10 / 6mm needles.

Take US 10/ 5,5mm needles to get proper fit for 20”.
