This is a pattern for a true alpine cabled shawl (as opposed to Aran cabling, which is the more familiar way of cabling). The knit stitches are knit primarily through the back loop, and although the shawl s not reversible, it is cabled on both sides. The combination of the Alpine cable with lace faggotting makes for an unusual and beautiful shawl.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, purling and a very good knowledge of cabling)

The pattern is CHARTED only. There are also instructions for an optional crocheted border, should you to add an edging. The edging is the ONLY crochet in the entire pattern.
