ABOUT GENIE TOP
The Genie Top is an elegant and sexy addition to your summer wardrobe. This garment is knitted bottom up. The body is first worked in the round, after which the front and back are divided into 4 sections that are worked flat, separately. The fit is loosely body hugging, so not tight, but shows the figure. The design has a peephole detail on both sides, front and back, as well as adjustable drawstring closure. The drawstrings can be tied to the back, the front, or the side, depending on personal preference. The finished top is designed to be cautiously cropped, reaching slightly below the waistline in wear. For a longer top, simply add some height to the body.

SIZE GUIDE
This garment is designed with negative ease, meaning, the bust circumference of the garment is smaller than your actual bust circumference. When choosing which size to knit, measure your bust circumference and deduct 10 cm 4 in of negative ease from that number. Compare your result with the garment’s bust circumference, and choose the closest size. If you fall between sizes, size up or down according to your own preference.

The sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 (6) 7 (8) 9 are equivalent to sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL. They correspond to the bust circumference of approximately 75 (80-85) 90-95 (100-105) 110-115 (120-125) 130-135 (140-145) 150-155 cm 30 (32-34) 36-38 (40-42) 44-46 (48-50) 52-54 (56-58) 60-62 in

Example: The sample is made in size 3 for bust circumference of 95 cm 37.5 in which gives the final garment a total of 8.5 cm 3.25 in of negative ease.

The main difference between the two recommended options is their texture. Ortica creates a thin, light, and crisp fabric. Amira creates a thicker, velvety texture. Both alternatives are mainly cotton fibres, so they are perfect for summer knitwear.

WORKFLOW
You will start by casting on stitches for the body.

First, you will work the ribbed hem and then knit straight up in the round until you reach the height of the underarms.

You will cast off stitches at the underarms, and the remaining stitches are divided into four equally divided parts, which will then be finished one by one, worked flat. They will form the two back, and two front parts.

Lastly, you will knit an i-cord for the drawstrings.
