Genji the Panda
Genji is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.
Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Genji is approx. 14cm tall.
You will need:
- 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
- 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted, 50g CHARCOAL and WHITE, 25g in RED and SALMON
- BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
- A pair of 8mm safety eyes
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Polyester toy stuffing
- Stitch marker (optional)
Notes:
- Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
- When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
- Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
- Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Genji is approx. 14cm tall.
- I’ve used the following yarns: o CHARCOAL = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 080 Slate o WHITE = Creative Cotton DK by Rico Design in col. 002 Natural o RED = Ricorumi DK by Rico Design in col. 029 Wine Red o SALMON = Creative Cotton DK by Rico Design in col. 022 Salmon
- I have used plastic safety eyes but you may choose to embroider the eyes. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
