The Gentiane cowl was created for the 2020 - 2021 magazine of l’Écheveau Solidaire (The Charity Skein).

Gentiane is a squishy cowl which plays with the soft texture of Suri yarns and fine yak and silk to create a graphic plaid effect.
It starts with a provisional cast-onnand is knitted flat until the desired length. The two ends are joined with a three needle bind-off.
The edge stitches are picked up and bound off in I-cord in the round to make a clean and elegant border.
Easy to memorize, the slipped stitch motif matches the difference in thickness and texture for a light and balance result. The cowl drapes around the neck or is wrapped twice to keep you warm.

Yarn :
You will need two colours of a DK and a fingering weight yarn in the following amounts :
CA (fingering) : 165 metres – 180 yards
CB (DK) : 215 metres – 235 yards

The sample is knitted with yarns from L’Echeveau Solidaire Equinoxe in natural (CA) and Truffulla in Le ciel de Rylan (CB).

Needles :
3.75 mm (US 5) circular needles
or size required to get gauge

Gauge :
23 sts x 30 rows per 10 cm – 4” in texture pattern after blocking

Note that a different gauge will affect size and yarn usage.

Size :
125 cm – 49 ¼“ circumference
22 cm – 8 ¾” width

Le col Gentiane a été créé dans le cadre du magazine 2020 - 2021 de l’Écheveau Solidaire.

Le col Gentiane se commence par un montage provisoire puis est tricoté à plat jusqu’à la longueur voulue. Les deux extrémités sont jointes grâce à un rabat à trois aiguilles.
Les mailles de glissières sont relevées et rabattues en I-cord en rond pour une bordure plus élégante.
Simple à retenir, le motif de mailles glissées s’accorde avec les différences d’épaisseur et de texture pour un résultat léger mais équilibré.

Laine :
Vous aurez besoin de deux couleurs de laine DK et fingering avec le métrage suivant :
CA (fingering) : 165 mètres
CB (DK) : 215 mètres

Le modèle est tricoté avec les laines de l’Écheveau Solidaire Equinoxe coloris naturel (CA) et Truffulla colorisLe ciel de Rylan (CB).

Aiguilles :
aiguilles circulaires 3.75 mm
ou taille nécessaire pour obtenir le bon échantillon

Échantillon :
23 m. x 30 rgs sur 10 cm en motif après blocage.

Notez qu’un échantillon différent affectera la taille du col et le métrage nécessaire.
