Gentle Waves
An easy-to-knit lightweight scarf or shawl with drop stitch mesh rippling between garter stitch ridges. The transparent waves are inspired by sunlight sparkling on shallow water, and the constantly evolving color changes in the Schoppel Wolle yarn provide plenty of visual interest.
Techniques include dropped stitches and simple increases and decreases. The pattern includes notes and photos to explain the dropped stitch technique, and instructions for making a small swatch if you’re new to the technique.
The sample was knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles with approximately 120g/320m/350yds of Zauberball Stärke 6
Colorway 2429 Tapetenwechsel, Change of Scenery.
The sample uses approximately 80% of the ball of yarn, so there is scope to make a longer project. The pattern can also be knit with different colorways or leftovers of different yarns.
Dimensions: approximately 136cm/53.5in x 45cm/17.5in
Gauge: approximately 16 stitches & 12 rows = 10cm/4in in drop stitch mesh pattern
The pdf includes the full written pattern, with notes and instructions, instructions for a swatch and a phototutorial about the drop stitch technique.
