Gentleman's Golfing Stockings
Original design from Weldon’s Practical Stocking Knitter (1904), this pair of stockings features a fancy cuff in a lovely colorwork design and ribbed leg. The original stockings had a small diamond pattern on the ribbed leg; I’ve simplified the design by eliminating the diamonds (the pattern suggested you “cut seventy-five pieces of the contrast color wool, each quarter of a yard long” and knit each little diamond, then work in all those ends.
3 skeins of the MC is plenty of yarn to add additional length to the leg and/or foot; only a small amount of the CC is needed to work the cuffs.
