Geoffrey Geoduck
I never would have imagined I would crochet a geoduck, but when my youngest son learned about them, of course he requested one. I couldn’t find any patterns or even any finished toys to purchase so I had to design my own. In addition to the funny way geoduck is pronounced, we thought it would look cute as a duck-billed-clam. I ran it through my testers, and now I offer Geoffrey to you. I even made a longer (and in my son’s opinion, funnier) version that is included in the pattern.
I used about 40g of #4 medium worsted weight acrylic yarn for the body (small version), 18g for the shell, and 2g of orange for the beak. I used a 3.0 mm hook. It is optional to backstitch the shell with #20 cotton or embroidery floss. I used 8mm safety eyes. Geoducks come in a lot of different shades, so choose your favorite shade.
The small version of Geoffrey measures 9” (23 cm) tall. The large version measures 10.5” (27 cm) tall.
