My husband picked out the stitch pattern and I think he chose wisely because it looks nice and was easy. The stitch is in the middle of the scarf with a garter-stich border. The pattern includes a chart and also written out, row by row, instructions. Instructions include how to do the selvedge edge, which make the edges so beautiful!
